Pre-departure
On application, a nominated co-ordinator will assist you through the application process and help prepare you for your internship in Europe. Your co-ordinator is there to answer any of your questions and to ensure that you fully understand what is involved with the programme.

Induction & Language Course
On arrival, the Host Organisation will arrange an airport transfer to take you to your accommodation. During your first week you will attend a language course and receive a cultural induction, which will help you to settle into your new home. You may also be required to attend interviews for your internship.

Internship
Each participant will undertake a 9-week internship in a wide choice of industries; please see the table above. Your internship will be allocated depending on your language abilities (if required), your qualifications, your work history and your aspirations. Your internship is unpaid. However your employer may choose to pay you some pocket money as well.

Accommodation & Food
Shared accommodation is provided for all participants. Depending on the destination, you may be living in a shared apartment or with a host family. Meals are generally not provided, although there are exceptions to this rule; for example, if your internship is in a hotel, you may also receive meals.

Transportation
Each participant is provided with a return flight to his or her destination. Flights generally leave from London-based airports.

Insurance
You are required to obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before departure. This free card entitles the holder to state-provided medical treatment within the country they are visiting. Additionally, you will be provided with private travel insurance cover.

Mentoring & Monitoring
The Host Organisation is there to support you throughout the programme and ensure that you maximise your experience. You are requested to complete a series of simple reports.

Please see the EUimpact Handbook for full details.
  1. Please download and read the Leonardo da Vinci EUimpact Handbook
  2. Once we have received all your documents, your application will be screened and successful applicants will be invited to interview at our offices in South-East London. Please see the Leonardo da Vinci EUimpact Handbook for details of the interview schedule.
  3. Successful applicants will be submitted to the Leonardo da Vinci National Agency and the Host Organisation for approval.
  4. There is an opportunity for you to meet the rest of the group approximately 2 weeks before departure at a social event held in London - please see the Leonardo da Vinci EUimpact Handbook for details.
  5. Please note that places are allocated on a first come first served basis (subject to interview). We therefore recommend that you submit your full application as early as possible.
